Discovery Harbour
Located on scenic Penetanguishene Bay, Discovery Harbour traces its roots back to the original British naval and military base built as a result of the War of 1812, to safeguard access to Upper Canada. Originally titled, "His Majesty's Naval Establishment on Lake Huron", the base was an important strategic location to keep ships in a state of readiness and to supply British posts to the northwest. Today, Discovery Harbour is a picturesque historic attraction situated on one of Ontario's most beautiful bodies of water, southern Georgian Bay.
Throughout the summer, visitors can enjoy interactive daily activities and join one of the fun and informative tours with knowledgeable costume staff that will take them back in time. While on tour visitors will learn first-hand the challenges of shipwrights, sailors, soldiers and other military and civilian personnel at this isolated outpost. The original Officers' Quarters is a must-see at this attraction. Built in 1836, it has been restored to its former glory. Discovery Harbour is also homeport to the historic replica ships H.M.S. Tecumseth and H.M.S. Bee.
Discovery Harbour is proud to be partners with Drayton Entertainment that offers live professional productions throughout the summer presented at the beautiful King's Wharf Theatre.
Enjoy waterside dining and a fabulous meal at Captain Roberts' Table as you take in the scenic view of the tall ships at docks nearby. Shopping is always a treat at Chiles Chandlery Gift Shop, offering unique nautical gift ideas.
